Paola Michelini graduated at the National Academy of Drama ‘Silvio D’Amico’ in Rome in 2003. In the same year she won the ‘Salvo Randone Award’ as best emerging actress. In 2004 she won the ‘Alberto Sordi Award’ and was selected for a six months scholarship at the ‘Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute' in New York.
She trained, amongst others, with Peter Clough, Josha Klazyck, Tage Larsen and Julie Stanzak. She worked with director Manuela Cherubini on the Ubu Winner
production ‘Bizarra’, by Rafael Spregelburd, that premiered in Naples for the Napoli Teatro Festival in 2010 followed by a second and different production in Rome at the end of the same year.
She worked several times with director Paolo Civati -‘Emoticon’ and the monolgue ‘In My End Is My Beginning’- and with director Benedetto Sicca -‘Frateme’ and ‘Il Silenzio dei Cassetti’.
In 2016 she was selected by Pierfrancesco Favino for the role of Irina in ‘La Controra’, an adaptation of The Three Sisters by A.Chekhov. The play premiered at La Pergola in Florence and is currently waiting to go on tour.
She is currently a member of the company If Human, a collective of artists with different backgrounds and nationalities. The company is hosted by Les Halles de Schaerbeek, in Bruxelles. Their main work is ‘Fear and Desire’, premiered at the Auditorium Parco Della Musica in Rome and later at Les Halles in Bruxelles, and at the Piccolo Teatro Studio in Milan in September 2017.
With If Human she worked also on the projects ‘Leaves' and ‘Useless Movements', alongside Gaia Saitta as her assistant director.
In June 2017 she was selected to perform in Hong Kong alongside visual artist Kongkee, within the theatre festival ‘Art Actually’.
For television she recently finished shooting the new serie ‘Rosy Abate’, produced by Taodue, which will be aired in November 2017.
