BARE OPERA PRINCIPAL CONDUCTOR SESTO QUATRINI TO ASSISTANT CONDUCT AT THE METROPOLITAN OPERA FOR TWO PRODUCTIONS
(October 29, 2015; New York, NY)--Sesto Quatrini, Bare Opera’s principal conductor, will work at the storied Metropolitan Opera for the current 2015-2016 season. He is an assistant conductor for two productions: the new production of Puccini’s Manon Lescaut, conducted by Fabio Luisi, and the company premiere of Donizetti’s Roberto Devereux, led by Maurizio Benini.
Quatrini will work with Maestros Luisi and Benini as part of the music staff for both productions, which star Kristine Opolais and Jonas Kaufmann (Manon Lescaut) and Sondra Radvanovsky, Elīna Garanča, and Matthew Polenzani (Roberto Devereux).
Rising star conductor Sesto Quatrini was born and trained in Italy. In 2013, Maestro Fabio Luisi, principal conductor of the Metropolitan Opera, selected him to conduct a workshop in France; this summer, Sesto served as assistant conductor to Luisi at the Festival della Valle d'Itria in Martina Franca, Italy. Recent honors include first prize in the “ICWC- International Conducting Workshop and Competition” in January 2013.
