SungWook, a native of South Korea, was recently seen as Fernando in Goyescas with Bare Opera in New York as well as Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville with Regina Opera in Brooklyn. He has participated as a Young Artist at the Caramoor Festival as well as the Seoul Metropolitan Opera, and he will return to the Caramoor Festival again in the summer of 2015. Favorite past roles include Rinuccio in Gianni Schicchi and Lechmere in Owen Wingrave with the Thornton Opera at the University of Southern California; the Conte di Liebenskof in Il Viaggio a Reims and Dorvil in La Scala di Seta with Mannes Opera; and Alfredo in La Traviata, the Duke of Mantua in Rigoletto, and Ernesto in Don Pasquale with the Seoul Metropolitan Opera. SungWook holds a professional studies diploma from Mannes College at the New School for Music and holds a graduate certificate from the Thornton School of Music at the University of Southern California, as well as a bachelor’s degree in vocal arts and a master’s degree from Seoul National University.
